Safety & Security Certifications

Goodwill Manufacturing, Inc. is proud to be R2:2013, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Certified for its Goodwill E-cycle business. This certification shows a high-level commitment to the safety and security of the computers, tablets and other components that are given to us.

But what is R2 Certification and why is it so important?

R2 is the result of a multi-stakeholder group, convened in 2008 by the U.S. EPA, tasked with identifying best practices for recycling growing volume of used electronics.

There are three certifications that are important for electronics recyclers:

The R2 Standard (commonly known as R2 Certification) is the premier global environmental, worker health and safety standard for the electronics refurbishing and recycling industry.

The ISO 14001 standard shows third party verification of our environmental responsibility. The OHSAS 18001 standard ensures that employee health and safety is always top-of-mind.

The R2:2013 Standard is the latest version of R2, and each provision of the R2 Standard is designed to help ensure the quality, transparency, environmental and social responsibility, of R2-certified electronics recycling facilities.

An R2-certified company is able to assure its customers that it takes appropriate measures to protect data, worker and public health, and the environment.

A company that is R2-certified is able to make the same assurances about each of its downstream vendors as well. All of a customer’s IT assets will be refurbished or recycled responsibly and legally, no matter where in the world the services are provided.

At Goodwill E-cycle, our achievement of the R2 Certification shows our commitment to the security of our customers, their data and their brand.
